FM 407 Bridge Over Interstate 35E to Close Saturday for Resurfacing
The FM 407 bridge over Interstate 35E will be closed Saturday, April 26, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. while the Texas Department of Transportation resurfaces the roadway. The bridge will be closed to all vehicle traffic during those times. Message boards at each entrance to the bridge and on Interstate 35E will advise drivers of the closure and direct them to detour routes.
New Service at Library
The Library is pleased to announce that patrons are now able to renew previously checked-out items at the Express Kiosks. Up until now the actual item in-hand or the assistance of library staff was required to renew library materials. 3M recently installed the software upgrade as a part of the library's maintenance contract.
Library Staff Attend Texas Library Association Conference
During the annual Texas Library Association Conference, held April 15-18 in Dallas, the Lewisville Public Library was well represented. Pat Peters, Library Youth Services Supervisor, as chair of the Texas Reading Club Advisory Committee, planned and hosted two programs. “Celebrate the Texas Reading Jubilee,” introduced the Texas Summer Reading Club 2008 materials to librarians from across the state. The 2nd program featured author/illustrator Janet Stevens’ artwork for the 2008 Texas Reading Jubilee. Several members of the library staff attended workshops, programs and exhibits to gather information on new and improved library trends, technology and services.
Library Hosts Southridge Elementary Families
The Lewisville Public Library hosted Southridge Elementary Library Night on Tuesday, April 22. LPL Youth Services staff teamed with Southridge librarian Melissa Marsalis to welcome students and their families to the library during the evening. Forty students attended, bringing their families with them. Youth Services staff gave informal tours, answered questions, and presented story time. In addition, Customer Service staff issued new library cards.
