Live Acoustic Jam at the Library!
Third Sunday of the month--1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

The Lewisville Acoustic Society invites you to attend it’s inaugural jam at the Lewisville Public Library. The Lewisville Acoustic Society is a group of musicians who love to play acoustic instruments and share songs in an informal, welcoming atmosphere. You don’t have to play an instrument to come to the jam session.  Music lovers of all ages are welcome to enjoy an afternoon of live music.
Musicians are asked to bring acoustic instruments only and be ready to share a song with the rest of the group.

Explore great young adult titles that aren’t only for teens. Each month we'll read a different book with its own unique “crossover appeal.” So be bold, be adventurous, and learn to love books that just might surprise you! Cross over with us the first Tuesday of every month in the Crawford Meeting Room at 7:00 p.m. The club kicks off Tuesday, September 7, with Markus Zusak's The Book Thief.

Did you know that you can get free access to a fun, fast and easy language learning program called Mango Languages? Mango is the easiest and most effective way to learn to speak a foreign language and it is available online to all Lewisville Public Library cardholders. Come to one of our Cool Tools mini classes to take a hands-on tour of Mango Languages and learn how you can use this great language learning program anywhere you have access to the internet.

Computer Lab
The Lewisville Public Library offers FREE computer training. The Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel classes will introduce students to word processing and spreadsheets. Students will learn the basics for these computer programs. Classes are offered each month. Registration is required. Students must have basic computer knowledge, including how to use a mouse to point, click, and drag objects and how to use a keyboard. Call the Reference Desk at 972-219-3779 to register.

Free Training for Child Care Providers

Maggie Jover with the Denton County Extension office will provide free continuing education opportunity for child care providers. In-home day care providers, day care center employees, and family members who take care of children can learn about healthy nutrition choices, physical activity ideas, and disaster preparedness. Take a Shot at Digital Photography

Tired of taking blurry photos? Don’t know the best camera setting for outdoor shots? In this interactive workshop, learn how to take amazing photos with your digital camera. Then go on a photo walk to practice your new skills! Program presented by Betsy Williamson, UNT Graduate Photography Student. Booked For Murder (Mystery Book Club)

Mischievous murders, sizzling suspense, absorbing intrigue…you’ll find it all in the Booked For Murder book club where mystery lovers are welcome to attend a friendly discussion of mystery novels. Join us this month to discuss the political thriller The Brink by Mark Fadden. Also meet the author as Mr. Fadden will be attending the book club meeting to participate in the discussion and answer questions. Booked for Murder meets on the third Tuesday of each month.
