By age 8, he was learning classical guitar and by age 15 began performing professionally. In 1979, Antonio attended the music school at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and afterward travelled to Spain for a more in-depth study of Flamenco guitar. During his career, he has studied with Pepe Romero, Juan Serrano, Paco Pena, Mario Escudero, Sabicas, Manolo Sanlucar, Manolo Franco, Enrique de Melchor, Serranito, and many others. He has toured as an accompanist with Jose Greco, the Maria Benitez Teatro Flamenco, Mariano de Cordoba, and others worldwide. As a performer and educator, Miguel combines Flamenco, Classical and Latin American folk music in his concerts. Some performances have included The International Guitar Festival in Cordoba, Spain; Festival Internacional de Taxco in Guerrero, Mexico; Instituto Mexicano de Flamencologia de ciudad Mexico; Universidad Pedagogica in Mexico; Escuela de Bellas Artes in Mexico; American University in Cairo, Egypt; the operas El Amor Brujo and a Vida Breve; and master classes for universities and guitar societies. Antonio also is a Luthier, restoring and repairing stringed instruments of all types. Vladimir Kaliazine is a native of Latvia where, at the age of 5, he began studying the Russian five-row chromatic button accordion, called the “Bayan.” He later graduated with highest honors from St. Petersburg Conservatory in Russia. His musical transcriptions, arrangements and improvisations were so masterful that he was featured in the famous Krasnoyarsk National Dance Company of Siberia. Kaliazine has combined his talents with many other virtuoso musicians while touring Russia, Germany and France. His travels also led him to Spain where he was a professor for many years. He then migrated to the United States to pursue performances with many musical groups such as Kalinka (with Sergey Vashchenko), Café Noir and GVA Discovery (with Miguel Antonio and Valeri Glava). He currently lives in Texas. Around The World concert series at MCL Grand features performers who bring a distinctive taste of international culture through music and dance. The lineup includes some of the finest European and African performances groups seen in North Texas.
