CITY MANAGER’S WEEKLY UPDATE PALS Opens New Park in May on Lake Ridge Road Lewisville’s Parks and Leisure Services Department will open the city’s newest park, East Hill Park, 2681 Lake Ridge Road, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 5. The Meridian Homeowners Association will host a block party in conjunction with the ceremony. Volunteer Recruitment Event Features The Rumble Kings April 25 On Wednesday, April 25, a volunteer recruitment event will be held in the courtyard at Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles Street, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for all those interested in volunteering at a future City of Lewisville event or at the MCL Grand. Coinciding with the event is a free public concert by The Rumble Kings. For information, call the MCL Grand at 972.219.8446. Fire Department Hosts All Saws Class On April 4, 5, and 6th, the Fire Department hosted our annual All Saws Class. This class has numerous stations for firefighters to learn new skills on various cutting techniques and saw maintenance. Close to 90 firefighters attended representing 13 different departments from four counties and included nine City of Lewisville Parks and Leisure Services Department employees. Community Needs Assessment Survey The public is invited to complete a survey to help the City guide future funding decisions. The Community Needs Assessment Survey is now available on the City's website: http://www.cityoflewisville.com. Look for the link under "CITY NEWS AND EVENTS." The survey is designed to assess the level of need for a variety of social services. Priorities established by the Needs Assessment will then help guide spending decisions for the Community Development Block Grant program and the City Social Service Agency Fund. Street and Sidewalk Repairs on Continental Drive The City of Lewisville Street Division has contracted with Ken-Do Contracting, LP to perform street and sidewalk repairs on Continental Dr. The southern entrance to the alley near Valley View Dr. that serves Continental Dr. and Devin Ln. was closed for repairs beginning on Thursday, April 12, 2012, and will be re-opened by Monday, April 16, 2012, weather permitting. Residents will still be able to enter the alley from the northern entrance, off of Creek Ct. Street and Sidewalk Repairs on Terrence Lane The City of Lewisville Street Division has contracted with Ken-Do Contracting, LP to perform street and sidewalk repairs on Terrence Ln. The southern entrance to the alley, nearest Valley View Dr., that serves houses on Terrence Ln., was closed for repairs beginning on Thursday, April 12, 2012, and will be re-opened by Monday, April 16, 2012, weather permitting. Residents will still be able to enter the alley from the northern entrance. The eastern entrance to the alley that serves Valley View Dr. and Hayden Dr, off of Terrence Ln., will be closed for repairs beginning on Monday, April 16, 2012, and re-opened by Friday, April 20, 2012, weather permitting. Residents will still be able to enter the alley from the western entrance off of Devin Ln.
