Lone Star Attitude to Kick Off Free Outdoor Concert Series at MCL Grand
The popular “Sounds of Lewisville” concert series, a free family favorite since 1991, has found a new home this year in the courtyard of the Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles Street in the heart of historic Old Town Lewisville.

The summer series will kick off on Tuesday, June 7, with a 7 p.m. performance by Lone Star Attitude. This Texas-based band presents authentic renditions of Lone Star music that has influenced rock, pop, country and blues. For information on Lone Star Attitude, please visit www.thesoundoftexas.com.

Seven performances will be presented from June 7 through July 19 during the summer series, and three more in October during the fall series. All shows will be in the MCL Grand courtyard on Tuesday nights starting at 7 p.m. For more information, please visit www.SoundsOfLewisville.com.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs, and food and coolers are permitted. Alcohol can no longer be brought into the concerts because of a state-issued sales permit now covering the facility, but beer will be available for purchase at the concession stand.

New Animal Shelter and Adoption Center Groundbreaking Set for June 8
The city will hold a ground-breaking ceremony for its new Animal Shelter and Adoption Center at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, at the construction site, 995 E. Valley Ridge across from the north entrance of Toyota of Lewisville Railroad Park.

The new 14,000-square-foot facility will be nestled on 2.5 acres near the banks of the Trinity River and will be roughly three times the size of the city's current animal shelter. Special features will include two get-to-know rooms for potential adopters, two outdoor get-to-know courtyards, indoor and outdoor dog runs, cat colony room, grooming room and training room.

The project was designed by Quorum Architects of Fort Worth. City Council awarded a construction contract last month to Modern Contractors of Bedford. The center is expected to open late spring or early summer of 2012.
