Gas Wells


    Natural gas is a combustible mixture of hydrocarbon gases that can contain methane, ethane, propane, butane and pentane. The natural gas that comes to your home is almost pure methane.  The Barnett Shale is one of the largest onshore natural gas fields in the United States and is located right here in North Central Texas.

    Gas Well Safety:


      · Never hook a natural gas well up to your house with out adequate equipment. Contact a well service company for assistance.

      · Natural gas straight from the well has no odor, pipeline gas smells because of an added ingredient.

      · Watch for bubbles in your water that may be caused by gas.

      · Never confine gas– contaminated water where the gas can build up to explosive levels such as in a washing machine.


    In the event of a gas leak:

      · Leave the area on foot immediately.

      · Refrain from any activities that could cause sparks.

      · Notify 9-1-1 of the leak when you reach safety.

      · Don’t use any electrical equipment (turning it on or off).
