Old Town Farmers Market now open, special activities planned
The 2010 season for the Old Town Farmers Market opened May 15 and will run through Oct. 30, opening each Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until noon at Wayne Ferguson Plaza (North Poydras and Main).
The third Saturday of each month will focus on a special area of interest for market goers with increased entertainment and educational activities that will re-introduce the public to market vendors and also will support a “green” message through interactive displays and events.
Planned activities will include Denton County Master Gardener’s “Ask a Gardener” and talks with the Purple Martin Landlords, whose purpose is to promote the benefits of a safe haven for Lewisville’s own Purple Martins.
“We are excited about going ‘green’ with the event and hope we can make an impact in our city, educating and showing people how they can lessen their carbon footprint in Lewisville”, said Jennifer Galante, Marketing & Tourism Manager.
Third Saturday Market topics throughout the year are as follows:
June 19 – It’s Summer time!
July 17 – Classic Car show & City Day
Aug. 21 – Motorcycle and Art Show
Sept. 18 – Celebrating grandparents and history
Oct. 16 – Fall Harvest
